Exterior Remodeling Trends for 2023

Updated: Jan 4, 2023

With the new year here, now is a great time to look at your home and see what needs updating. Updating the exterior of your home is a fantastic way to add curb appeal while keeping it fresh and with the times. While there are many classic designs you can remodel your exterior after, we recommend researching some of the newest designs so that your home stays relevant and on-trend.

Check out some of the exterior remodeling trends that we're predicting we'll see a lot of in 2023:

  • Dark Paint Colors. Dark paint colors are in - both all over the house or as an accent. Black is a great color to use as an accent color for siding and trim. We particularly like this if you're planning to go lighter for the exterior siding, as the darker trim accentuates some of the home's most beautiful parts. If you're planning to paint the entire exterior dark, go for more earth tones, like dark green, navy blue, or charcoal.

  • Stained Brick. Stained brick is one of the more controversial trends in design, but it's here to stay for at least a bit longer. And we don't mind it! Choose a lighter color to stain your brick, leaning more towards whites or light grays so that the red of the brick can peek through.

  • Wood. Natural wood is a fantastic way to warm up the overall appearance of your home, especially when you choose wood with warmer undertones. Use natural wood for shutters, trim, doors, columns, garage doors, and even front porches and decks.

  • Large Windows. Thinking about replacing your windows? Go big or go home! Larger windows look great outside of your home and let in a ton of natural light inside. It will make the interior of your home seem more spacious. Try floor-to-ceiling windows, French doors or a mutli-paneled sliding glass door system for an indoor/outdoor effect.

  • Texture. Add some texture to your home's exterior to highlight its architectural elements and give it a little more character. Try adding window or door trim, texture to siding, manufactured stone, or even cedar shingles or faux-slate to your roof.
